On a trip to Florida in March, 1999, I began collecting fish and shell fabrics. I continued to collect them after I returned home as well as just general "water" and "sand" fabrics. Then using my color-shift bargello technique, I organized all these fabrics into color families of eight fabrics from light to dark. As I worked across my bargello line, every so often I vertically shifted from one group of color families to another. It turned out to be a good year for fish and shell fabrics and no, I don't know how many different ones I found!
