Morning Has Broken Like the First Day was made
for a contest sponsored by the American Quilter's Society on using mariner's
compasses in new ways. This was not one of the winning quilts, but I
was pleased with the results. The sun is fussy-cut from a gold paisley
print. The stars are 3", 4", and 5" mariner's compasses
which I drafted, pieced, and then inset into the background fabric.
The sun is hand quilted with gold metallic thread and the stars with
silver metallic thread. |
